How do I maintain my mobility scooter?

Here at Quingo Scooters we know that the idea of maintaining your mobility scooter could be a daunting one. So today we want to share some steps you can take towards keeping your Quingo in top condition, and it’s a lot easier than you think!

We all want our mobility scooters to look in their best condition at all times, and to be assured that they are performing to their best ability whilst ensuring absolute safety. These quick checks can be done easily and regularly, and they apply to all Quingo Scooters.

Visual Checks

Just by looking at your scooter, you will be able to tell if there is any visible damage. This is important even if you don’t think it will affect performance.

Tyre Pressure

If your scooter has inflatable tyres, you should check the tyre pressure regularly. If tyres are below the recommended pressure, the steering and range of the vehicle could be affected. If you opted for solid tyres, these don’t need inflating. However, it’s still a good idea to check them visually for any irregularities. Full details on recommended tyre pressure can be found in your scooter’s handbook.

Throttle

You should regularly check that your throttle has full and free movement, and that there’s no change to its functionality.

Steering

Regularly checking to see that the steering is moving both freely and smoothly is a good idea, just in case there is something you haven’t noticed whilst driving.

Batteries

Before all journeys your batteries should be fully charged. One of our previous blog posts provides further information on looking after your mobility scooter batteries.

Armrest and Seatbelt

Regularly make sure the armrests are tight and secure and ensure the seatbelt engages and releases correctly.

Cleaning

To clean your mobility scooter regularly with ease, there a few simple steps to bear in mind. To clean your Quingo, use a damp cloth and gentle detergent – anything other than this may be too harsh for your scooter. Be sure not to use any abrasive or scouring liquids or materials, or any high pressure cleaning devices, as these could also cause damage to your mobility scooter.
